Storia does not sell your personal information and does not use your information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Storia, we collect the following types of information:
- Account and profile information: email address, display name, username, avatar, authentication provider, anonymous guest status, and account timestamps.
- Memories and user content: titles, descriptions, dates, moods, categories, emojis, captions, photos, videos, audio contained in videos, drawings, stickers, albums, stories, reports, invitations, and other content you create or upload.
- Location information: latitude and longitude for memories and places, city, region, country, addresses or place names, and location search terms used to find places.
- Social information: friend requests, memory invitations, story participants, contribution status, and the profile information needed to show invited users or collaborators.
- Device and notification information: device platform, app version, device model, locale, timezone, push notification preferences, and Expo push tokens if you enable notifications.
- Usage and diagnostics: product events, screen views, feature usage, permission outcomes, crash reports, error logs, performance traces, and basic app/device context.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Save, display, edit, share, and delete your memories, places, albums, and stories.
- Upload, store, process, and display photos and videos.
- Show maps, search for places, and convert coordinates into place names.
- Enable friend requests, invitations, shared memories, story participation, and in-app notifications.
- Send push notifications if you allow them.
- Protect the app from abuse, enforce safety features, and process content reports.
- Understand app usage, improve features, fix bugs, monitor uptime, and diagnose crashes.
- Provide support and respond to requests.
Third-Party Services
We use service providers to operate Storia. These providers may process information on our behalf:
- Supabase for authentication, database, storage, realtime features, edge functions, and account/content deletion workflows.
- Mapbox for maps, place search, geocoding, reverse geocoding, and map rendering.
- Expo for push notification token registration and push delivery infrastructure.
- Amplitude for product analytics, if analytics is configured for the app. We send redacted product events and avoid sending names, emails, coordinates, captions, titles, addresses, media URLs, invite codes, or other free-text content.
- Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics, if crash reporting is configured for the app. We configure Sentry without default personal information and only attach an opaque user ID when needed for diagnostics.
Analytics and Diagnostics
Storia uses analytics to understand whether features work well and diagnostics to find and fix crashes. Analytics events may include app version, platform, device model, locale, timezone, anonymous/user ID, and feature usage counts or flags. We do not use analytics for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Location
Location is central to Storia. We use location to place memories on the map, create places, center the map when you allow location access, and find or label nearby places. You can deny location permission, but some map and memory-placement features may be limited.
Photos, Videos, Camera, and Microphone
Storia requests camera, photo library, and microphone access only when needed to capture or attach media. Photos and videos you choose to save are uploaded so they can appear in your memories, albums, stories, and shared experiences. Video may include audio.
Sharing and User-Generated Content
You control what you create and who you invite. Shared memories and stories may be visible to invited participants or collaborators. Do not upload content unless you have the rights to do so and permission from anyone whose privacy may be affected.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, we store an Expo push token and notification preferences so we can send alerts for supported app activity such as invitations or friend requests. You can disable notifications in your device settings or app settings when available.
Data Retention
We keep account information and user content while your account is active or as needed to provide the app. If you delete memories, media, or your account, we delete or de-identify associated data according to our deletion workflows, subject to backups, legal obligations, security needs, and operational limits.
Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Update profile information in the app.
- Edit or delete memories, albums, stories, photos, and other content where supported.
- Control camera, photos, microphone, location, and notification permissions in your device settings.
- Request account deletion from the app or by contacting us.
- Contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal information where applicable law provides those rights.
Children
Storia is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Storia, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including authenticated access, row-level security for app data, private media storage, and secure token storage where supported. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Processing
Storia and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for international transfers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Storia changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate.
